“I think the best days and the best scenes are…you feel that you just do them all day, and you do them again.”

Lovely discussion between writer John Patrick Shanley and actors Emily Blunt and Jamie Dornan in regards to a scene from their film Wild Mountain Thyme.

Shanley, who wrote and directed the film, discusses his inspiration for the scene, and Blunt and Dornan elaborate on their process when approaching this extended sequence. The scene was incredibly important for the writer, and the actors were able to connect with this and discover the importance for themselves.

This video is both useful and inspirational for any actor learning to dig into a scene, unearth its many layers, and find a way to fit the pieces together.

For someone (like me) endlessly hungry for new and contrasting experience, this is a nice reminder of the treasure trove of delicious sensation to be experienced within this craft.

Keep digging. – PTN
