“Netflix and Chill” has a whole new meaning this Spring!

Many movie theaters around the country remain indefinitely closed. Fortunately, many of these films can be found on the various streaming services available, in lieu of the typical theater experience. Here’s an idea: organize virtual viewing parties. Many video conferencing services offer an option to “share your screen” with other participants on the call. Set up the call, gather your cinema-philic friends, and enjoy the films together from the comfort of your respective homes. It may not be your standard movie theater outing, but it will do for now.
My “watch list” just expanded significantly. Obviously, the films nominated are not the only decent films being made, but for people like me (woefully deficient in film knowledge) this is a great resource to discover a plethora of new art and artists.
The ceremony has been postponed until April 25th, so there is plenty of time to bring yourself up to speed. I’ll be watching a lot of movies in the next month!
