“I love the conversation between film and music.” – Agnes Obel

Film would be nothing without the music that supports it. The two have a long history, which began in the early days of film. Films could not yet speak for themselves, so their music spoke for them. The dialogue gains depth and fullness with each passing year.

This brings us to present day. Nominees for the Oscar for Best Original Song have been announced. Kory Grow of Rolling Stone has been kind enough to gather all these songs and compile them into one cohesive Rolling Stone article.

Flip through this list, and enjoy the colorful variety of music featured this year: Best Original Song Nominees.

Here is my favorite: “Speak Now” by Leslie Odom Jr. from One Night in Miami.

Artist feature on Leslie Odom Jr. coming soon.
